ACSESS June 2010 Response to NS Department of Labour
On May 25th, 2010, Nova Scotia Labour and Workforce Development launched a consultation to
determine if there are suitable protections for workers employed by temporary agencies. The issues
raised in the discussion are of great interest to the staffing services industry.

Staffing Industry Health and Safety Guide for Nova Scotia
Staffing firms have an obligation under Nova Scotia's Occupational Health and Safety Act to protect the health and safety of temporary employees.

UPDATE FROM THE 2005 CHAPTER PRESIDENT, JOHN COTTERILL
NS Supplements to the Staffing Industry Health and Safety Guide (2004) are now complete. The supplements were developed in partnership with the Industrial Accident Prevention Association (IAPA) and the Workers Compensations Board of Nova Scotia. This resource tool, designed to assist members in understanding their responsibilities as employers of temporary help, includes a summary of industry best practices and a wealth of policies and procedures.
