Summary of Presentation:

Leading up to October, there had been much talk around how the legal, social and political landscape of Canada is changing as the purchase of recreational cannabis becomes legal. Companies must ensure that they are aware, diligent and proactive with regards to workplace impacts and the responsibility of employers. At the presentation, we will briefly review the state of the law with regards to medical and recreational marijuana and the recent changes made. Further, we will explore the impacts legalization will have on the workplace including employers’ rights and employees’ obligations and discuss best practices and strategies for organizations providing recruitment and/or temporary staffing services.

ACSESS is pleased to announce the development of a local ACSESS Chapter in VANCOUVER to meet the needs of our members and staffing firms in British Columbia.

In anticipation of this, we invite you as a Leader in the locals staffing industry to participate in an informal Focus Group Session and Networking Social on Thursday March 10th from 4 - 5:30 pm at The Lennox Pub 800 Granville St. @ Robson.

Click here for a survey with a sample of questions that you can complete now or bring with you on March 10th to discuss with your colleagues. These questions, along with others that we will ask at the event are designed to get feedback and generate discussion on ideas going forward.

The Vancouver chapter will be governed by a five person team. We currently only have three confirmed leaders and are seeking to recruit two more members. If you or anyone you know would be interested in applying for one of the remaining two roles then please let us know at the meeting or prior via email. We will also be completing an informal nomination/election process for the three existing members who have all selected the role they would ideally serve on the team.
