Sexual Harassment in the Workplace Industry Session
Summary of Presentation:
In an evolving workplace landscape and the recent focus on the #MeToo movement, companies must ensure that they are aware, diligent and proactive around the laws regarding workplace and sexual harassment. At the presentation, we will briefly review the state of the law and the recent changes made. Further, we will explore best practices and strategies to avoid allegations and how to deal with complaints once they are launched.

Biography:
Mr. David Alli is a labour and employment lawyer at Hicks Morley's Toronto office. He advises public and private sectors employers on a variety of labour and employment issues, with a particular focus on human rights, workplace investigations, accommodation, wrongful dismissal defence litigation, grievances, collective bargaining, employment contracts and employment standards.
David has appeared as counsel for employers before the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, the Small Claims Court, the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, and the Labour Relations Board. David also provides on-site training seminars on a range of labour, employment and human rights topics to assist organization with compliance and strategy.
David is a member of the firm's Litigation, Human Rights, Employment Equity and Financial groups.
In his spare time, David has served as a Director and Second Vice President with the Peel Law Association and spearheaded initiatives to benefit the membership. For the past three years, David has been a member of the teaching team of the Lawyer as Negotiator course at Osgoode Hall Law School and regularly presents on Negotiation and Cognitive Bias.
